Beauty & Skincare Upgrades in 2013!

2013 was a year FULL of changes for me. It was a year of upgrades to say the least. Looking back, it’s hard to believe so much has happened in only a year and that 2014 is already here.

Not only did I experience major life changes, I also changed up a bunch of things in my skincare/beauty routine so I thought I would share them with you all! Maybe these products can be added into your rotation in 2014.

I used to use generic drugstore shampoos (Aussie was my fave!) or Korean shampoos like Elastine because they smell SO good. But my hair wasn’t looking too great, and once I started dying my hair lighter this year, I realized that these shampoos were stripping the color right out. Plus, they contained sulfates, which is damaging for your hair in the long run. Now I use sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo, and I can see and feel the major difference in my hair. I also switched my conditioner to Kevin Murphy Angel Rinse, and my hair is so much more manageable and softer. I still cheat on my angel rinse with Elastine conditioner sometimes….it just smells too good.

Skincare:

I used to have a pretty simple skincare routine (Cetaphil cleanser, Aveeno lotion, benzoyl peroxide when I breakout) but I’ve been trying out way more products this year, especially during the winter when my skin is super dry & super sensitive!

Makeup:

Welp, in 2013 I became a lipstick hoarder. No doubt about that. I used to have a lip balm problem, now I have a lipstick problem. Woops.

A couple of my babies favorites… Left to right: Chanel ‘La Sensuelle’, Marc Jacobs ‘Understudy’, Rimmel Kate Moss 09, Mac ‘Russian Red’, Mac ‘Lustering’

Lastly, face products! Goodbye crappy concealers, hello Bobbi brown corrector in light peach (Godsend), and my beloved Kat Von D concealer. Not that my old concealers were terrible, and yes Nars is a high end concealer, but I found that the formulas I was using were too creamy and always moved around. Plus, they didn’t cover up my undereye circles well enough. I still don’t use foundation but I reach for my Missha bb cream when I want more coverage.

Happy new year everyone and be safe! x
